Back on Track

Friday, March 5, 2010

Okay....finally I have taken the time to just relax because the house is clean! Well we are all moved in our new place! I love it, yes we did lost an extra room, but we are much happier. Everything is brand new and our landlords are so kind. We went to our new ward this past sunday for the first time and I already got sucked into going to relief society choir AND the ward choir. I guess that's what I get for having my landlord be the 2nd counselor in relief society! haha oh well I helped to get to know some of the women in the ward, and everyone is so nice and very welcoming!

A few weeks ago, Steven and I drove down to Vegas and met up with my Parents little sister, and older brother. It was so much fun! I had never been to Vegas really. Just drove through it. I was amazed at how detailed each hotel was! While we were down there we got to go to my dads cousin's wedding. haha it was fun and the bride looked beautiful. Addie had a blast on the dance floor..grandma said she couldn't get her off when it was time to go! After nights of staying up late(one time being 2 in the morning walkin the strip with my parents!) It was time to go home...back to reality. Little did we know we had a huge storm ahead of us! It was so bad we had to pull over a few times. I was scared to death and so tense the whole time! People were loosing control of their car and spinning out slidding off the side of the road. We almost got hit a few times...oh man what a night! we finally made it home safely, no hits, no slidding, and no car problems! hallelujah!

Work is great...school is even better! I'm almost done with core, which is bitter sweet, I love being in core with Amy as our teacher..I'm gonna miss her! Not so excited to take the tests, but definately excited to start taking some clients! :)

Busy, Busy, Busy

Man oh man have I been slacking. To be honest, I have not so much time to update this thing, but I'm going to do my best :) Here's a little run down of the happenings in the Crosby home.
  1. I finally started school at Paul Mitchell!! I absolutely love being at school. I've been a lot happier now that I am doing something that I love. So my new schedule goes a little something like this. Mon, Tues, Thursday I work from 7am -3pm and then go to school from 5-10pm; and Fridays I work from 9am-5pm. It's been quite exhausting let me tell you, but I think it's worth it! I've learned so much already in just 4 weeks and I find everyday so interesting and amusing.
  2. We're Moving! Yes this is totally random. A co-worker of Steven's had mentioned to him they were moving to Florida and need to sell their place. We went and checked it out and decided to move their. Lucky for us, my best friend Whitney was looking to move too, and her and her husband will be taking over our place! As much as I love moving into a new place, I hate it because *I just got comfortable with our ward and our primary class *I have to pack up everything and start all over again. But it will be a good and exciting adventure. Our new landlords are very sweet. They live in a beautiful home behind Target and made a basement for their mother..who didn't want it. So its brand new and very nice and cozy for Steven and I.
  3. I'm Pregnant! haha Just kidding! You won't have to worry about hearing that kind of news for another 4 years or so. It just felt right to say as almost everyone I know is either pregnant or just had their baby. That just means I get to play with them, while not actually having a baby :)
Well everything else is pretty much the same I would say. Steven is working, going to school, and still loving me everyday that passes. I can't believe January is pretty much over now...It's going by so fast, but I can't wait until February for all the exciting events that will take place...one in which I hope to see BOTH of my parents..I definately miss them :/ I think that is all for now...here are a few pictures from New Years...yes I know a little late..

OH yes and my star cake:)

Ali's New Love

Lately over the past few months, I have discovered a new love of mine...
Cake Decorating!

I have had some opportunities to play around with fondant and design some cakes for my dear friends and their birthdays. Boy have I had so many ideas running through my head I just want to keep making cakes and trying new things with them! Someday maybe I will take a cake decorating class to get some more tips. But as for now, I think it will just be my form of art that I will enjoy as a hobby. So if any of you need a cake....LET ME KNOW!! I would love to assist you with any kind of cake:)

Here are the cakes I have made over the past months.

My first cake was this cake (above) was for a friend of mine at work....I forgot to take a picture of the cake before we dove into it, but at least you can get the idea...It was delicious! It was a white cake filled with real strawberries and white frosting. And of course my first experience with fondant.

My second cake was this cake for my best friend Whitney and our other friend Amy, they had the same birthday! This one I covered with white fondant instead of regular frosting, and also had some fun decorating and experiencing the difficulties of piping the letters. This was a chocolate cake with some white frosting filling - also so good and moist!

As for my third cake...oh its my FAVORITE! My good friend from work Ashley has a daughter that was turning 1 and they call her "Tinks"; they were having a fairy/Tinkerbell party. So I jumped all over this one and had so much fun making it! Of course I didn't make the fairies, but this was definatley a girlie cake. The actual cake was pink (strawberry) with white frosting. I covered it with white fondant but spray painted food coloring for the grass and pond. I used fondant for the flowers as well and sprinkled edible glitter all over. Getting the fairies to stay was a real trick, especially the ones on the sides. But since they all came on stands I took the three of the fairies and super glued sewing pins on the back and stuck em in and Ta DA they stayed!

Well That's all of my cakes for now, next I wanna try to make a different shaped cake, but who knows when that will be. As for now...I'm off to make a New Year's cake for our little shin dig tonight. Until next time..HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

Monday, December 7, 2009

Its been quite some time that I have posted anything. blog slacker, I admit it! This is going to be a quick one, but this past weekend my mom came to visit! She had so much fun decorating our whole condo, including the bathroom, yes the bathroom. She's so good and it was so fun to have her here to play! Eventhough I worked most of the day. Gotta pay the bills! Anyways, besides the lovely looking condo, Steven and I picked out our first Christmas tree together! it was so much fun, BUT freezing!! I dont know how many places we went to. We got pretty desperate. This little stand on the side of the road was selling locally cut trees for 14.95, they all were pretty bare and weird looking except this one tree, that stood on the sidewalk to bring people in. The guy who owned it said its a little family business they do to have a Christmas each year for their family. Poor guy, he was missing about 4 teeth in the front! We didn't have any cash and told him we would look around some more and might come back. It was getting late, I was freezing, tired and just wanted to get a good looking tree. Steven then mentioned that his buddy told him about a grocery store selling trees for $25. We thought hey, we'll go check it out, if its lame we will just call it a night and go see a movie or something. To our surprise we got a tree! From a grocery store. He's a chubby little guy and is perfect for our place! It smells so good and we just love having a fresh tree in our home. We finally finished decorating the tree last night. So here it is! {I'll post more pictures of the condo later:)}

Happy Holidays!
